Learn xAPI

Sean Putman, Learning Ninjas and Brian Dusablon, Duce Enterprises

You have heard about xAPI, and maybe even attended a few sessions about it. Now, you can learn how to implement xAPI in a full-day, hands-on workshop.

In this workshop, we will guide you through developing your own xAPI-enabled project. The day will start with an update on the standards of xAPI. Then, we will walk through the process of developing a data strategy and planning for data analysis and visualization.

You will experience working with actual data and sample projects firsthand to learn how to develop and publish xAPI-enabled content for a specific outcome. We will collect a stream of live, real-time data from your projects throughout the day!

Application on the Job:

  • Collaborate on an xAPI project you can use as a guide to apply what you have learned to your own projects.
  • Learn the proper methodology to design an xAPI-enabled project with data analysis as a primary driver.
  • Explore capabilities of authoring tools and how they can be used or extended to develop xAPI-enabled content.

Learning is a Product and You're a Product Manager

Matthew Daniel, Capital One

The new theories, approaches, and technology intersecting within our field can feel overwhelming and impossible to stay on top of. In this time of change, you can use the framework of a tech product manager to tackle all these new approaches and technology and prepare yourself for whatever comes next.

Take a deep dive into design (user research, design thinking, experience design), technology (the cloud, APIs, system integrations, big data), and business (impact, measurement, and speed to market). Review the steps to creating product road maps using the approaches above and get a framework to approach learning design that's ready for whatever innovation comes next.

Application on the Job:

  • Explore the role of the product manager and how the responsibilities align with the role of learning system owner or designer.
  • Build a framework for examining your role from the vantage of a product manager, marrying design, technology, and impact.
  • Create a product road map that takes user-back design, business impacts, and technology capabilities into account.
