Escape room games are exciting and are popping up at the intersection of digital and learning experiences. This session proposal offers a unique peek behind the curtain at the design and development efforts taken to build a completely digital leadership escape game. This abstract begins with a brief explanation of escape room games and their use in educational settings. The speaker will continue by providing a quick glimpse at how data collected during their dissertation study supports the arguments delivered during this session. The session will wrap up with a formal proposal.

  • Design a digital escape game using mechanics, puzzle flow, and alignment to learning objectives.
  • Develop interactions in an online authoring tool that emulate escape game mechanics.
  • Convert a physical escape game to a digital escape game.
